DamyaDox-P ®

Doxycycline powder 50%
For veterinary use only.
Category: Antibiotic (Tetracyclines).
Form: Water soluble oral powder.
Compound: Each gram of powder contains 500 mg Doxycycline (Hyclate).
Target Animal: Poultry and calf.
Indication: Doxycycline is effective upon prevention and treatment of digestive and respiratory systems’ infections resulted by microorganism sensitive to Doxycycline such as Bordetella, Campylobacter, E coli, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus subspecies, Chlamydia and Rickettsia. Also, it’s twice as effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, compared to other Tetracyclines and it’s the best tetracycline against gram-positive bacteria.
Mode of Action: Doxycycline is broad bacteriostatic anti-biotic which prevents protein synthesis in bacteria, once it connects to 30S ribosomal subunit.
Pharmacokinetics: Once administered orally, Doxycycline quickly gets absorbed via intestine. Food’s presence in intestine doesn’t affect drug’s absorption. This medicine influences and distributes well throughout body tissues. Once absorbed, it metabolizes a little and in contrary to other Tetracyclines, its excretion takes place via feces. Therefore, it can be used in case of renal failure.
Calf: Once administered orally, its plasma concentration reaches between 2.2- 2.5 µg/ml and its half-life excretion varies from 15 to 28 hours.
Poultry: 6 hours after oral administration, it reaches a stable plasma concentration and varies between 1.28 – 2.18 µg/ml.
