DAMYARANARAK
Triclabendazole + Levamisole Hydrochloride Oral Suspension
for veterinary use only.
category: Anthelmintic (Benzimidazole and Imidazothiazoles)
form: Oral suspension
Compound: Each ml of oral suspension contains 50 mg of triclabendazole and 37.5 mg of levamisole hydrochloride.
Target animal: Sheep and goat
Indication: Triclabendazole + Levamisole Hydrochloride Suspension is used to control and treat parasitic infections in sheep and goats.
– Adult and immature stages of gastrointestinal nematodes (Haemonchus, Cooperia, Nematodirus and other nematodes)
– Adult and subadult stages of lungworms (various species of Dictyocaulus)
– Adult, subadult and immature stages of liver flukes (various Fasciola species)
Mode of action: By inhibiting the activity of the fumarate reductase enzyme, triclabendazole prevents the reduction of fumarate to succinate in mitochondria and prevents energy production, resulting in the parasite being killed due to muscle paralysis.
Levamisole, by directly influencing worms’ neural system, Levamisole quickly paralyzes them, facilitating their easy detachment from respiratory mucus, digestive tube and their rapid exit from animal’s body. Hence, with minimal damage to mucus and animal’s digestive system, entire respiratory and digestive worms present in body will be eliminated and excreted.
Pharmacokinetics:
– Triclabendazole: Following oral administration, triclabendazole is rapidly converted to sulfoxide and sulfone metabolites in the body, with peak plasma concentrations occurring within 12-36 hours. Approximately 50% of the drug is excreted in the bile after being metabolized.
– Levamisole: Once administered orally, Levamisole quickly gets absorbed and its
plasmatic concentration reaches maximum level in 3 hours. Once the absorption process is
complete, Levamisole distributes vastly and promptly throughout different tissues. Levamisole
is mainly metabolized in liver and less than 5% of it remains unchanged which will be excreted
via urine. 90% of the entire prescribed dose will be excreted in 24 hours. Metabolites mainly are
excreted via urine and a little via feces.
Dosage and Administration: Once the bottle is shaken well, administer the suspension orally via drenching gun.
1 ml of suspension per 5 kg of body weight is recommended for sheep and goats.
Side effects: In case of overdose, clinical signs such as excessive salivation, nervous excitability, frequent urination and defecation, respiratory distress, tremors, and muscle incoordination may occur within 15-60 minutes after administration. These effects are transient and usually resole within approximately one hour.
Caution:
