Doxycycline 100 Mg

Category: Antibiotic (Tetracyclines).
Form: Oral tablet.
Compound: Each tablet contains 100 mg Doxycycline (Hyclate).
Target Animal: Dog and cat.
Indication: Effective upon prevention and treatment of respiratory system’s infections such as Tonsillitis, Bronchopneumonia, Rhinitis created from micro-organisms sensitive to Doxycycline such as Pasteurella Spp., Bordetella bronchiseptica, Staphylococcus aureus and other Staphylococci, Streptococci. Also effective upon treatment of Ehrlichia canis.
Mode of action: Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit.
Pharmacokinetics: After oral administration, the drug is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the intestine, and within 3 hours its maximum plasma concentration reaches 4.5 micrograms/ml. The presence of food in the intestines does not affect the absorption of the drug. Despite its high level of binding to plasma proteins, it has good distribution and penetration into all body tissues. The drug is mostly excreted unchanged (metabolized to a very small extent) through feces and urine, and the elimination half-life of the drug is 7.8 hours.
Dosage and Administration: Daily consumption dosage of 10 mg/ kg (1 tablet per 10 kg bodyweight) for 5 consecutive days. To treat Ehrlichia canis, mentioned dosage needs to be prescribed for up to 28 days. It’s advised that drug be administered with food.
Cautions: Keep out of reach of children.
Drug Interaction: Not to be concurrently used with other antibiotics especially bactericides like beta-lactame. Its half-life will be reduced if consumed concurrently with Barbiturates or Phenytoin. Concurrent administration with other compounds containing iron and antacids will reduce Doxycycline absorption.
Contraindication: Due to insufficient clinical research, it’s better not to be prescribed for pregnant animals.
Withdrawal Time: None.
Preservation: Keep in a dry place, away from direct light and at room temperature (below 30°C).
Packing: Boxes of 50, 100 and 150 tablets (Blisters of 10) / polyethylene containers 50, 100 and 150 tablets.
